The study of Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP) has in recent years enjoyed its rapid growth internationally. This trend is not only found in the study of English, the primary international language, but also of other languages. As an important workplace foreign language in Taiwan, second only to English, Japanese has also been studied from the LSP perspective. To meet the study needs of this area, a good research library is indispensible. This project, sponsored by the National Science Council, is an attempt to meet this need.

 This project has the following features:

1. Book acquisition recommendations from international scholars.
2. Information collected from representative works in LSP worldwide since 1960.
3. Book coverage in international and local developments in LSP.
4. Books to enhance and expand the domestic LSP researches.
5. First comprehensive book list in Taiwan for Japanese for Specific Purposes.

With this project we expect to achieve the following goals:

1. Build up a comprehensive library for LSP research so that the researchers in Taiwan can access the books through interlibrary loans.
2. Collect the representative books by well-know scholars in LSP so that the scholars in Taiwan can be familiarized with the field.
3. Promote LSP research through these book acquisitions.
